“Don’t let anyone steal your dreams. Follow your heart, no matter what.” – Unknown
Has there ever been someone in your life who has tried crushing your hopes and dreams? Or did they not believe in you and said that what you’re doing is wrong? If not, then you must be a very lucky person! But it might not have been be the same for other people. In my first example (Example 1: found at the bottom of my post) the callous teacher tries to crush Monty Roberts’ dreams because the teacher was very bitter and believed that Monty’s dreams were not “realistic” enough for the “real world” and gave him various reasons as to why the dream would never become true. And Monty received an “F” on the given assignment. (Monty’s dreams was to own a horse ranch that was 4000 square feet for the house and 200 acres for the ranch.) But the teacher then gave him another chance to redo the assignment and make it “more realistic”. Monty thought about it for a bit and decided to stick to his dream and not redo the assignment for a better grade. The thing about this story that stuck out to me was how Monty Roberts was so stubborn on making his goal and dream come true that he did not care about what his teacher said and he was fine with keeping the “F” grade. Monty was so determined on it that he just wanted to prove his teacher wrong and years later, he did. That right there is how amazing and inspiring it is to me. I know for sure many kids would have just given up on their hopes and dreams because the teacher was coldhearted and bitter that they did not care about the kids dream and liked being a “dream stealer”
The quote (shown above under the picture) was at the end of the story and was especially memorable because of the lesson it taught and still teaches people even in today’s world. It explains that you should never give up on your dreams, despite failing over and over and never letting anyone “steal” your dreams. It relates to my next two example (Video 1: found at the bottom of my post). This video shows Will Smith talking to his son, telling him to protect his dream and not letting people stop him from achieving it not even letting his father (Will) stop him (Christopher). The moment I thought of doing my weekly reader on hopes and dreams; this very scene popped up into my mind. It is very important because there will almost always be people who will try to put you down and try to steal your hopes and dreams but only you can stop believing what they say. The reason for it might be because the people are jealous of you and most likely couldn’t achieve their own hopes and dreams. So therefore, they will try to stop yours and make it sort of like a “never ending cycle.”
As for my next example (Video 2: found at the bottom of my post), this video shows how the famous people failed over and over again throughout their lives with people trying to crush their hopes and dreams but they (the famous people) proved the people who didn’t believe in them wrong. It has significance to what I’m blogging about because they were so determined on their hopes and dreams that they succeeded in the future even after failing countless times throughout their lives.
Video 2 relates to the picture (shown above), because it portrays a very memorable, motivational, and inspiring quote that is “carved” onto a plastic rock. It shows how the “quitters” will never achieve their goal and dreams. While the “winners” will most of the times achieve their goal and dreams even after failing. This relates to my first example because Monty Roberts never gave up; he achieved his goal and proved his teacher wrong. It didn’t matter if he received an F on the given assignment; the only thing that mattered to him was fulfilling his dream. In which case, he did and was worth it. Overall, I believe that everyone should be able to follow their hopes and dreams no matter how old or young they are. No one should be able to take it away from them despite themselves failing numerous times. But even with them failing at that cerrtain time, they will never know what is in store for their future. A good example of this is Abraham Lincoln (example 2: found at the bottom of my post and in video 2. He is a good example because he never gave up even with all of the hardships that happened to him and even after losing in 8 elections he still “won” the race of his life.
What I’m trying to say overall, is that you should never give up on your own hopes and dreams because people tell you to give up and that it’s wrong. Once you listen to the people who tell you what you’re doing is wrong and should do what they say, is when you have “lost” this game we call “life.”
