Today Hurricane Irma is coming in stronger and faster and many hurricane trackers think that with her progress she might be heading towards the south coast of Florida. At the moment hurricane Irma is ranked as a category 3 hurricane meaning the she is in between of being harmful but sustainable. Hurricane Irma has been affecting the following caribbean islands, Antigua, Barbuda, Anguilla, Monserrat, St. Kitts, Nevis, Saba, St. Eustaisas. St. Maarten, and St. Barthelemy. The hurricane has also been on alert in the British Virgin Islands, The US Virgin Islands, Guadeloupe, Puerto Rico, Viegas, Culebra, and Dominicana. For the caribbean islands the alerts were given 36 hours or 3 days before the hurricane strikes and for the other islands an alert is given 48 hours or 4 days prior to the hurricane strike. The reason for Hurricane Irma’s path is due to a high pressure system in the mid-atlantic.on late tuesday or wednesday there is a chance for the hurricane to change its path and move to the northwestern part of the United States. The high pressure system is responsible for the path that she is taking, once the system stops the hurricane will start moving westward. Many forecasters are expecting hurricane Irma to dig southward over the eastern United States during the next 72 hours. Hurricane Irma is just one of the many hurricanes that have been occurring in the last decade, starting from hurricane Katrina in 2005 which affected the caribbean islands and the southeastern and eastern coasts of the United States. Hurricane Felix,  the most powerful hitting a category 5 in the hurricane charts. It hit in the year 2007 and it affected Mexico, Central America, and the northern part of South America. Hurricane Matthew is one of more recent hurricanes and it is the strongest. For the first in 9 years there was a hurricane just as powerful or more powerful than hurricane felix. It struck in 2016 and it cause costly damage in the caribbean islands, central america, the eastern coast of the united states and the coasts of south america. The two hurricanes that have recently occurred in the United States, one being Hurricane Irma and the second one being devastating is Hurricane Harvey. Hurricane Harvey formed on August 17, 2017 and it dissipated on September 2nd, 2017. In my opinion the mass hurricanes are occurring because of global warming. These sudden changes in temperature and the intensity of the hot summers and the freezing winters are starting to show more prominently in our earth. These rapid changes are also elevating the magnitude for these tropical hurricanes and making them more dangerous and devastating. For the first time an earth in which we thought we had control of is starting to slip off our grasps.
